{\noindent Dear Han:}

Bob Brunner has forwarded to me the lovely gift that you so kindly left
for me. I do not quite know how to thank you enough for your gift and for
thoughtfulness and rememberance that it represents.

I am very sorry that your schedule did not allow us to get together as
I would like to renew old ties and to learn, at first hand,
how you have weathered the ups and downs of fortune since you left the
University of Illinois.

As you know, I spent only three years at Illinois
and then went to IBM where I spent 17 years and then came to
Stanford. It's hard to believe, but I have been here over 14 years. My
interests have strayed from electron devices to their use in Computers, then
to computer design, computer systems, artificial
intelligence, speech recognition etc..  Your
interests have, obviously, remained more constant.

We keep thinking that we might visit China sometime but other interests
intervene and we have not been in your part of the globe for many years.
If we ever get to Beijing, I do hope that our visit will allow time
for us to see each other.

With best wishes,

\rjustline{\teniu Sincerely yours, \hskip 20pt}
